Warranty and Repair Support

We build Tenkara Rod Co. rods to handle real days on the water, and we stand behind them. If something goes wrong, our goal is simple: figure out what happened, treat you fairly, and get you back on the water as quickly as possible.

Below is a clear breakdown of what's covered, what's not, and how to start a claim or repair request.

Quick Overview

There are four main paths, depending on your situation:

30-Day New Rod Support — Something wrong right out of the box? We'll make it right fast.

5-Year Defect Warranty — Current rods are covered against manufacturing defects for 5 years from purchase.

Accidental Breakage Support — Accidents happen. We'll help you get a replacement section at a fair cost.

Legacy Rod Upgrade Support — Discontinued rod without available parts? We'll help you find a path forward.

More detail on each below.

30-Day New Rod Support

If your rod arrives damaged, is missing a part, or fails under normal use within the first 30 days of delivery, we'll make it right — quickly, and without hassle.

Depending on the issue, we'll send a replacement rod or replacement part, and if the original needs to come back to us, we'll provide a prepaid return label. This isn't a formal warranty claim process — it's just us fixing a new-product issue.

31–90 Day Customer-Friendly Review

If an issue comes up between 31 and 90 days after delivery, send us a couple of photos and a short explanation of what happened. As long as there's no obvious sign of an accident, misuse, or abuse, we generally lean toward helping.

5-Year Defect Warranty

Current Tenkara Rod Co. rods are covered against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for 5 years from the original purchase date.

This covers genuine manufacturing defects — not accidents, misuse, normal wear, lost or stolen parts, or intentional damage. For approved defect claims, we'll repair or replace the affected section or rod, and we'll determine whether a repair, section replacement, or full rod replacement is the right fix.

Accidental Breakage Support

Accidents happen, and we still want to help you get back on the water. Accidental damage isn't covered as a free warranty claim, but we make replacement sections available whenever we can.

This includes things like stepping on a rod, car door damage, travel or airline damage, damage from a pet or kid, impact damage, snapping a tip while extending or collapsing the rod, snags, falls, or any stress outside normal use.

When replacement parts are available for your rod, you can purchase just the section you need. You're responsible for the cost of the part and shipping.

Legacy and Discontinued Rod Support

We can't stock replacement parts forever for every rod we've ever made. Some older models used different parts, specs, or factories, so current replacement sections may not always fit.

If parts are available for your rod, we'll help you get a paid replacement section. If they're not, eligible legacy rods may qualify for a discounted upgrade to a comparable current rod. Reach out and we'll walk you through your options.

How to Start a Claim or Repair Request

Email hello@tenkararodco.com with the following information, and we'll take it from there:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Shipping address
  • Order number, if available
  • Rod model
  • Date of purchase, if known
  • What happened?
  • Which section is damaged or needed?
  • Photos of the damaged section and the full rod, if helpful

Most issues can be resolved by mailing you the right replacement section — no need to send your rod back to us.

How to Count Rod Sections

Start at the very tip of the rod and count down.

  • The tip section is #1
  • The next section down is #2, and so on

This helps us make sure you get the exact section you need.

FAQ

Is every broken rod covered for free?
No. Manufacturing defects are covered under our 5-year warranty, and any issue in the first 30 days is on us. Accidental damage — like stepping on a rod or a car door — isn't a free warranty claim, but we'll help you get a replacement section at a fair cost.

What if my rod breaks within the first 30 days?
Reach out right away. We'll get you a replacement rod or part quickly, and provide a prepaid return label if we need the original back.

What if I'm not sure whether it was a defect or an accident?
That's okay — just send us photos and a short explanation of what happened. We'll review it and let you know how we can help.

What if my rod is discontinued?
We'll help however we can. If replacement parts are still available, you can purchase the section you need. If not, your rod may be eligible for a discounted upgrade to a comparable current model.

Do I need my order number?
It helps speed things up, but it's not required. We can usually track down your order with your name and email.

Who pays shipping?
For 30-day new rod issues, we cover shipping both ways. For accidental breakage, discontinued rod upgrades, and out-of-warranty repairs, you're responsible for shipping costs.

Can I buy just one replacement section?
Yes, when the part is available. You don't need to replace the whole rod for a single damaged section.
